Chinese authorities have confirmed 65 new deaths in the country, as of the end of 4 February. This takes the total death toll to 492, of which 490 are in mainland China.
The number of coronavirus infected cases has surged to nearly 24,527 worldwide. In mainland China, the confirmed cases stand at 24,324, with 3,887 new cases reported.
Of the total cases in mainland China, 3,219 cases are in serious condition. The government also reported 23,260 suspected cases and 892 recoveries in the region.

By GlobalDataJapan confirms coronavirus cases on cruise
Following a health screening of passengers on a cruise ship, Diamond Princess, the Japanese Ministry of Health confirmed ten positive cases of coronavirus.
Positive patients include three Japanese, two Australians, three from Hong Kong, one from the US and a Filipino crewmember.
Japanese health authorities quarantined the cruise after a passenger tested positive for the coronavirus in Hong Kong. This passenger travelled from Yokohama, Japan on 20 January and reached Hong Kong on 25 January.
The ten individuals who tested positive on the cruise will be taken to hospitals in Japan. The ship will remain under quarantine in Yokohama for at least 14 days.
Countries plan more evacuations
Countries including the US, Japan, France and Germany, have been bringing back their nationals from Wuhan city. Brazil is the latest country with plans to send two planes to evacuate its citizens.
Meanwhile, the US and the UK intend to send additional flights to repatriate more nationals. The US is planning to send its plane on 6 February, while the UK will send its second aircraft on 9 February.
